Troubleshooting PC-DMIS Monitor

If your asset appears Idle or Unknown in the SFx Asset Management when it is actually operating, do as follows.


This guide works for all versions of PC-DMIS earlier than the following:

  • PC-DMIS 2020 R2 or later

  • PC-DMIS 2020 R1 Service Pack 4 or later

  • PC-DMIS 2019 R2 Service Pack 7 or later

  • PC-DMIS 2019 R1 Service Pack 10 or later

  • PC-DMIS 2018 R2 Service Pack 12 or later

If you are using a newer version, skip to Step 10.1 to 10.3 to contact Hexagon Technical Support.

  1. Open the Pulse application on the computer connected with your asset.

  2. Start a PC-DMIS program.

  3. The Pulse application should indicate that your asset is operating by the Playing icon. If this is the case and your asset still does not appear busy in the cloud, contact Hexagon Technical Support (see instructions in Step 10 below for contacting Hexagon Technical Support). If the Pulse application indicates that your asset is idle with the Paused icon, then the Pulse PC-DMIS Monitor is not connected to the version of PC-DMIS you have running. Follow the steps below to fix this.

  4. Exit PC-DMIS from the File menu.

  5. Close Pulse and Pulse PC-DMIS Monitor:

    1. Close the Pulse application first.

    2. In your system tray right-click the Pulse PC-DMIS Monitor icon and choose Exit.

    3. Do the same for the Pulse icon in the system tray.

  6. In the Windows Task Manager Details page, make sure that PCDLRN.exePulsePC-DMIS.exe, and PulsePC-DMISLauncher.exe are not running:

    1. Right-click the Windows taskbar and choose Task Manager.

    2. Click More details if necessary to see all the tabs.

    3. In the Details tab check for PCDLRN.exePulsePC-DMIS.exe, and PulsePC-DMISLauncher.exe.

    4. If they are not shown proceed to the next step. Otherwise, right-click each of them and choose End Task.

  7. From the Windows Start menu, right-click Pulse PC-DMIS Monitor and choose Run as Administrator.

  8. If the Pulse PC-DMIS Monitor icon in the system tray shows a red indicator then right-click it and choose Enable PC-DMIS Monitoring. In the resulting pop-up, click Enable PC-DMIS Monitoring.

  9. From the Windows Start menu, right-click PC-DMIS and choose Run as Administrator.



    Each user who logs into the system will need to do this once so that the Pulse PC-DMIS Monitor registers to this version of PC-DMIS under each user profile.

  10. Repeat Step 2 (start a PC-DMIS program). If your asset still appears Idle in the cloud, please contact Hexagon Technical Support:

    1. From the SFx Asset Management home page or asset detail view, click the small triangle beside your asset’s name and choose About this Asset.

    2. Click the Service Info tab then click Contact Support.

    3. Choose your region and country to view the support information.
