Reconnecting a Portable Arm on a New Computer

Your portable arm has been connected to your SFx account on a computer. However, you want to connect the arm to another computer for some reason.

Here are two typical scenarios:

  • Scenario 1: Replacing the computer with a new one

The portable arm was onboarded with the old computer. Now the old computer is replaced with a new one.

In this case, you need to disconnect the network of the arm from the old computer. Then connect the new computer to the arm's network. Simply put, this is a regular onboarding process. See Connecting Your Portable Arm to Your SFx Account.

  • Scenario 2: Switching from one computer to another

A customer has a portable arm and two application engineers who alternately use the arm with their own computers (computer A and computer B).

In this case, the portable arm must have been connected to both of the computers respectively. See Connecting Your Portable Arm to Your SFx Account.

An arm can connect to only a computer at a time. Therefore, when computer A is connected to the arm, computer B must be disconnected from the arm.

As soon as the arm is connected to one computer, the data exchange with the cloud starts with a short delay (approx. 5 mins).
