Opting-in to Submit Dimensional Data

Note

If you are connecting a laser tracker and are not using PC-DMIS, you can skip this section. However, if you are using PC-DMIS with a laser tracker, you can opt-in to submit dimensional data to your SFx Account by following the steps below.

Note

This guide applies to the following PC-DMIS versions:

  • 2020 R2 or later

  • 2020 R1 Service Pack 4 or later

  • 2019 R2 Service Pack 7 or later

  • 2019 R1 Service Pack 10 or later

  • 2018 R2 Service Pack 12 or later

If you use a version of PC-DMIS that is earlier than the versions listed above, see Troubleshooting to resolve that situation.

With advanced information from PC-DMIS, you have the option to send dimensional data to your SFx account. With this option turned on, you are then able to see a dimensional summary, including Pass/Fail status, for each program execution, as well as details for each dimension measured.

Note

The option to send dimensional data to your SFx account requires an up-to-date PC-DMIS software maintenance agreement (SMA) from Hexagon.

When you first connect your Asset to your SFx account, the option to send dimensional data is disabled by default. If you choose to opt-in to send data, the following information is then submitted from PC-DMIS when measurement programs are run:

  • Dimension Name

  • Dimension Measured Value

  • Dimension Nominal Value

  • Upper Tolerance

  • Lower Tolerance

  • Deviation from Nominal

  • Out of Tolerance Value

  • Bonus Tolerance

  • IsOutOfTolerance

To opt-in to dimensional data, follow the steps below on the computer that is connected to your asset:

  1. Open the SFx Desktop application that you installed.

  2. On the home screen of SFx Desktop, click on the gear icon (interactive_button_white_gear.png) at the top right corner.

  3. On the Settings screen, under Service and Interfaces, click PC-DMIS Interface.

  4. Mark the checkbox next to Enable transmission of Dimensional Data to your SFx account.

    Tip

If you also want to upload Feature Data, PC-DMIS reports, or CAD Data, ensure the checkbox next to the corresponding option is checked.

  5. Click Save Changes.

Additionally, the old approach (path) is still available to enable the transmission of dimensional data. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the SFx Desktop application that you installed in Step 2.

  2. From the Dashboard, at the top right corner of the SFx Desktop screen, click on the small white gear icon (SFxDesktop_SettingsIcon_serviceConfiguration.PNG) to open the SFx Desktop Interfaces screen.

    Note

Ensure that your asset has been provisioned and connected to your Nexus account. Otherwise, go back to Step 3.

  3. From the SFx Desktop Interfaces screen, under Metrology Software, click PC-DMIS EdgeClient Interface.
