Managing Geofences
There are two kinds of geofences in SFx Asset Management:
Asset-level geofences: Only apply to the current asset and can be created, edited, or deleted by all Standard Users in an organization. See Setting up Geofences for details.
Organization-level geofences: Apply to specified laser trackers that have been linked to a GPS Tag. When created by an Asset Administrator, it can be enabled or disabled, or deleted by Standard Users in the same organization.
On the Manage Geofences page, there are only organization-level geofences displayed here. With an Asset Administrator account, you can create and apply, edit, or delete organizational geofences.
Log into the Metrology Asset Manager Portal with your Asset Administrator account.
At the top right of the header, next to the Help icon, click on the Settings (
) icon above the user profile.
On the Asset Settings page, click on the third tab to open the Manage Geofences page.
Click + Create GeoFence in the upper right corner of the page.
In the Create GeoFence dialog, type in the geofence name, set up the radius of the geofence, and re-locate the geofence as you need. The circular type of geofence is chosen by default.
Tip
The radius range you can set up for a circular geofence is from 0.01 to 500 kilometers.
To re-locate the location of a geofence, move your mouse on the map and click the desired position, which will be automatically identified and shown on the right with the new geo-location and accurate longitude and latitude values.
Click Yes, Apply to open the Apply to Assets dialog.
If you click No, Maybe Later, this dialog closes. You can go to the organizational geofence list to apply the newly created geofence to assets.
Then apply the geofence to one or multiple assets.
Tip
Alternatively, you can also go to the GPS screen to create an organizational geofence and apply it to the current asset. See Setting up Geofences for details.
After an organizational geofence is created, you can apply it to specified assets.
In the organizational geofence list, find the geofence you created, and click Go to Apply.
Mark the checkbox in front of the targeted asset, and click Save.
You can also apply a geofence to two or more assets by selecting multiple assets from the Available Assets list.
Tip
Use the asset filters above the asset list to quickly filter out desired assets.
Click X from the Selected Assets list or uncheck the checkbox to deselect an asset. Click Clear All to remove all selected assets from the list.
Go back to the organizational geofence list, you can find the texts change in the Applied to column, which indicates the total number of assets that applied the geofence.
Tip
Click the texts (x Assets) to modify the applied assets.
Log into the SFx Asset Management Portal with your Asset Administrator account.
At the top right of the header, next to the Help icon, click on the Settings icon (
) above the user profile.On the Asset Settings page, click on the third tab to open the Manage Geofence page.
Click the Edit icon (
) to open the Edit GeoFence dialog.Edit the fields you want to modify, and click Save GeoFence.
Similarly, perform the first three steps described above to enter the Mange Geofences page.
Find the target geofence from the list, and click the Delete icon (
).Click Delete.
Note
When you delete an organizational geofence, you will not receive any related geofence events about the assets that have applied this geofence.
