3a. Connecting Your CMM to Your SFx Account

  1. On the home page of SFx Desktop, you should see a Tour dialog box. If you don't see this dialog box, you can access it from this toolbar menu option:

  2. From the Tour dialog box, click Begin Tour.

  3. For your type of machine, click CMM.

    • To browse the key features of SFx Asset Management, click Next.

    • To jump to the end of the tour, click Skip.

  4. On the Get Started screen (the final screen of the tour), mark the I agree to the End User License Agreement check box and then click Set up my asset(s).

    Tip

    Click the End User License Agreement link to read the full text.

  5. From the list of CMMs, select a model that best fits your CMM. Then click Next .

    If your asset is not from Hexagon, scroll down to the bottom, click Other (custom), and enter the model name in the input box.

  6. On the Basic Info screen of the Edit Asset dialog box, specify the basic properties of your asset. Then click Next.

    For details on your asset's basic properties, see Asset Properties.

  7. On the Opt-in Sending Data to Cloud screen, ensure the Send Dimension Results to the Cloud checkbox is marked. Then click Save.

    This ensures you can view a dimensional summary, including Pass/Fail status, for each program execution, as well as details for each dimension measured in the Program Detail View.

    Tip

    If you want to upload Feature Data, ensure the Send Feature Results to the Cloud checkbox is marked.

    If you also want to upload PC-DMIS reports, ensure the Send Reports to the Cloud checkbox is marked.

    To opt-out of these options after onboarding, see Opting-in to Submit Dimensional Data.

  8. Read the End User License Agreement and click Agree and connect to my SFx account!.

  9. From the home screen on SFx Desktop, click Connect to SFx to connect your CMM to your SFx account. Or you can wait for the screen to jump to the next step automatically.

  10. Sign in to your SFx account.

    The CMM is now connected as seen on the dashboard screen.

  11. Click View online to go to the Asset Detail View in SFx Asset Management with a new browser window.

    Tip

    Click the Edit icon (button_edit_asset.png) next to your asset name to edit the asset information if needed.

Asset Properties

The following table lists the basic properties of an asset.

Asset Property

Description

Asset Name

A unique name for your asset.

Note

The asset name cannot exceed 14 characters.

Serial Number

The serial number of your asset.

Note

Your input value is overridden if a correct serial number is retrieved from the controller.

Model

The model type that best fits your asset. All supported models are listed.

Location

A specific position within a plant or facility where the asset is located.

Tip

We recommend that you specify a location within a plant, such as a column number, or a room number. Later on, you can set up plants and add your assets to your plants in order to manage or filter assets by plants.

Description

Provides a customized comment for your asset. This is an optional field.

You need to reconnect an asset to your SFx account in the following cases:

  • The asset status on the local computer isn't synchronized with its status in your SFx account (its SFx Connection status shows Ready to connect).

  • The asset has been detected locally by SFx Desktop, and displayed in the All My Assets list but has not been connected to your SFx account (its SFx Connection status shows Ready to connect).

To reconnect your asset, follow these steps:

  1. From the SFx Desktop toolbar area, click the SFx Pulse drop-down and select All My Assets.

    On the All My Assets screen, you can find all the assets you've provisioned.

  2. Mark the checkbox next to the asset you want to reconnect.

  3. Click Connect selected to SFx.

  4. Click Yes, Connect.
