Realtime Downtime Tagging

This feature enables you to add downtime tags for an asset in real time when an error occurs on the asset or a program can't be run on the asset temporarily. Whereas formerly you could only add downtime tags to elapsed downtime segments on the Utilization Over Time chart. See Downtime Tagging for details.

Note

This feature is only for CMMs and machine tools with PRO/PRO Trial subscriptions. See Upgrade a Lite Asset to PRO for details.

The section below describes how to add, cancel, edit, and delete a realtime tag for an asset.

To add a realtime downtime tag for an asset, follow these steps.

  1. Select an asset from the Asset Dashboard, and click the asset name to go to the Asset Detail View.

    Note

Ensure the asset you selected is not operating at the moment. Because only when the asset is not operating (i.e., Operational Status ≠ Operating), the Realtime Tag button appears.

  2. Scroll down to the Utilization chart, and click the Realtime Tag button.

  3. In the pop-up dialog, select a tag from the Tag list, and click Start to tag.

    AddRealtimeTag_StarttoTag.PNG

    Tip

See Create a Tag for details on how to create a new tag in the Tag list (for Asset Administrators only).

    Tip

In this case, no need to set up the start time or end time. As the start time is the time when you click on the Start to tag button, and the end time will be added automatically when you stop tagging.

Once a realtime downtime tag is started, this tag is populating the downtime from this moment on until the next operation event happens, such as the asset or the program resumes running, or someone stops tagging.

In the meantime, you can see the Realtime Tag button disappears, and a blue round icon (AddRealtimeTag_TagIcon.PNG) starts turning, which indicates the realtime tagging process is ongoing. All users in your organization can view this turning icon.

    Note

Only one realtime tag can be added per asset at a time.

    Tip

Hover over the turning icon to view the tag details, including the tag name, the start time of the tag, and a tip.

  4. Click the turning icon (AddRealtimeTag_TagIcon.PNG) when you decide to stop tagging.

  5. Click Yes, please in the pop-up confirmation dialog.

    AddRealtimeTag_StopTagging.PNG

A message prompts to inform you that the realtime tagging process is stopped and the tag is saved.

    Tip

    • To change the name of the realtime tag before saving, click Edit.

    • If you prefer to cancel this realtime tag, click Delete.

    • Click Cancel or the X button at the top right to exit the dialog box.

  6. Go to the Utilization Over Time chart, you can see a new time segment is added immediately to reflect the downtime period with the realtime tag you added.

    AddRealtimeTag_UOTChart.PNG
  7. Go to the Downtime Analysis chart, you can see the downtime tag is added to the chart.

In the meantime, the downtime you added just now is counted into the Tagged Time and the Total Downtime for this asset. See Downtime Analysis for details.

When you would like to pause the realtime tagging process and remove the realtime tag that is being added for some reason, follow these steps.

  1. Similarly, perform the first four steps described above to enter the Stop Tagging dialog.

  2. Click Delete at the bottom left of the dialog.

    Tip

Alternatively, you can also click the Edit button next to Delete, then click Delete in the Edit Realtime Tag dialog, and confirm Yes, Delete.

  3. Click Yes, please in the pop-up confirmation dialog.

After a realtime tag is added, it becomes a normal downtime tag, just like the downtime tags you added to the Utilization Over Time chart. To edit a realtime tag, do as follows.

  1. Select an asset from the Asset Dashboard, and click the asset name to go to the Asset Detail View.

  2. Scroll down to the Utilization chart. Find the downtime tag you want to edit from the Utilization Over Time chart, and click it to open the Edit Tags screen.

    AddRealtimeTag_EditTag.PNG
  3. In the Edit Tags screen, find the row of the downtime tag. Click the tag name and select another tag from the drop-down list.

    Tip

    • Click the X icon next to the tag name in the Tag column to remove the tag.

    • Click the Plus icon (AddIcon_Plus.PNG) to split a tag, see Split a Tag for details.

    • Click the Minus icon (RemoveIcon_Minus.PNG) to remove the row of the downtime segment. This means the tag on the specified downtime segment is removed and the downtime segment is merged into the last continuous downtime.

    AddRealtimeTag_EditTags_Edit.PNG
  4. Click Save.

After a realtime tag is added, it becomes a normal downtime tag, just like the downtime tags you added to the Utilization Over Time chart.

To delete a realtime tag, see Delete a Tag for details.
