Asset Details for a Laser Tracker

The following figure illustrates the asset properties each of which is marked up with a number on the Asset Dashboard in the Asset Detail View.

The asset name, generally comprised of the model name and serial number.



The drop-down functional menu for a tracker, including

  1. About this Asset – Browses the generic information of the asset, including asset information and related service information.

  2. Edit this Asset – Edits the basic asset information, including asset location, plant name, production schedule, customized description, OEE calculation checkbox, and deleting an asset.


    Only asset administrators have access to this item.

  3. Service Info – Displays service information about this asset, views and downloads all certification documents, and seeks online help from Technical Support when an anomaly occurs.


    When the certification documents for the laser tracker, Probes, or Probe Tips are uploaded by Hexagon Support, you can view and download them as needed. See Downloading a Certification Document.Downloading a Service Certificate

  4. Probes – Views a range of probes and measurement accessories available for the tracker from the tracker library. See Asset Probes for details.

  5. Compensations – Checks the compensation records of the tracker. See Asset Compensations for details.

  6. GPS – Edits the geo-location related information for the asset, including linking/unlinking a GPS Tag, setting up geofences and geofence events, and tracking route history.


    ONLY asset administrators have the privilege to link or unlink a GPS Tag from this submenu while standard users could add geofences and geofence events, and view the route history after an asset administrator has linked a GPS Tag to this asset.


    The Geo-Location field cannot be filled out manually. Instead, it is read automatically based on the geographical location of the asset after linking the asset to a GPS Tag. See Linking/Unlinking a GPS Tag for details.


The comment about the asset. If filled out, it would be displayed on the card widget. It’s an optional field.


The asset image. SFx Asset Management offers built-in images for each supported model type to help you glimpse its physical appearance.


The asset location.


If the asset has the geo-location info (i.e., linked to a GPS Tag), you can click on the pin icon (Pin_Icon.PNG) to quickly open the map view with the asset displaying in the position.


  • If an asset has the Location, Geo-location, and Plant address, then all these data would be displayed. See the figure below.

  • If an asset has no Location, Geo-location, or Plant address, then No Location will be displayed.

  • If an asset has one of the location data, then only the available info will be displayed.

When the Geo-location data is older than 3 hours ago, you can find a yellow warning icon (YellowWarningIcon.PNG) nearby, which indicates that the current Geo-location is not up-to-date. See the figure below.


Hover over the icon to see the tooltip. You can also click the Refresh button to get the latest data.

The battery icon behind the Refresh button indicates the battery level of the GPS Tag. Hover over it to read the accurate value.


The asset name.


This is a static time that only changes when a tracker’s current connection state changes.

  • If the tracker is offline, it indicates the last disconnection time of the tracker;

  • If the tracker is online, it indicates the connection time of the tracker this time.


The operational status of the tracker. Hover your cursor over the icon to see a tooltip. See Asset Status about Laser Tracker for details.


The probe in use. Hover your cursor over the icon to see a tooltip. See Probe Status for details.


Click on the icon to go to the Asset Probes screen.


The active measurement mode. Hover your cursor over the icon to see a tooltip. See Measurement Mode for details.


The power supply status.


Click on it to see a line chart of power supply usage varied over time in the chart below. See Power Supply for details.


The network connection status. See Network Connection Status for details.


Click on it to see the LAN and WLAN configurations of the tracker in a pop-up dialog.


The leveling and monitoring sensor status.


Click on it to see the line chart of drift changing over time in the Metrics chart below. See Drift Monitoring for details.


The environmentally meteorological status, including air temperature, air pressure, relative humidity, and object temperature.

The generic asset information.


Click on it to browse the generic information of the tracker and the system as well as service information in a pop-up dialog.


The sleep schedule.


Click on it to see the work/sleep schedule of a laser tracker on a weekly or daily basis in the Metrics Chart below. See Sleep Schedule for details.


The overall status of the tracker. See Overall Status about Laser Tracker for details.


The certification status of the asset and the recommended certification date. See Certification Status for details.


Click on the date to open the Service Info screen.


For a tracker with a Lite subscription, only the last 24 hours of historical data is visible in tracker charts and the Event Log. You can click the Upgrade to PRO button in the Asset Detail View to request a quote for PRO subscriptions or try out PRO Trial subscriptions for free. See Subscription Management for details.
